From Pilot Mound to Don Messer: a tribute to Bill Delorme
His fiddle was practically part of his arm — and his tunes travelled all the way from a small Manitoba town to Don Messer's Jubilee on CBC-TV.
The late William "Bill" Delorme of Pilot Mound, posthumously inducted into the MFA's 2026 Wall of Fame, was honoured at Carman Community Hall on April 26, where his daughter Patricia Hunter and his great-grandson — Winnipeg actor Cory Wojcik — shared memories of a Métis fiddler who played, simply, for the love of playing.
Reporter Dan StYves of Pembina Valley Online has written a beautiful tribute capturing Bill's story, his original compositions — including the Pilot Mound Waltz — and the family voices keeping his music alive.
